Classes & Instructors
All classes held to Age-Appropriate Music
STRENGTH & STRETCH: Offered twice a week, the class begins with a ten-minute, full-body warmup to enhance joint mobility, blood flow, and balance. Using hand weights, resistance bands, or body weight, instructors work all major muscle groups while offering modifications adapted to different ages and abilities. Routines vary, but correct form remains essential and is taught in each class. A thorough cool-down stretches all muscles to enhance participants' flexibility and range of motion. 9:00am-9:50am
FIT OVER 50: Held once or twice a week, the class includes an active warm-up requiring participants to utilize all major muscle groups and planes of movement to increase heart rate and build cardiovascular stamina and endurance. Participants complete twenty to thirty minutes of cardiovascular exercise, ending the class with balance and stretching. 9:00am-9:50am
INSTRUCTORS:
Dependent on location and schedule, Katy Brandin (owner- see 'About KT' in menu) teaches both Strength & Stretch and Fit Over 50 classes.
Jen Quirk teaches Fit Over 50 once a week (though she may substitute for Strength & Stretch if necessary). Like Katy, Jen has instructed various fitness classes in the Seacoast area since the late 1980s. Holding a degree in Exercise Physiology, Jen also utilizes her skills in the Cardiac and Respiratory Rehabilitation Unit of Portsmouth Hospital. She managed The Nautilus Station Gym in Eliot, Maine years ago and has taught classes in both corporate, medical, and recreational gym settings.
